Other Reiman Garden Pictures

I am in love with this giant ball of orchids they have hanging in the conservatory.  The smell is heavenly.  (Orchids have always been my favorite flower.)

 These birds are so interesting!  We see them on the from Gilbert to Ames.  They are all black except for a bright red spot on the shoulder of their wing.

 A reproduction of the Campanile that you find on campus.  (One of those things that plays chimes at ever quarter hour, and on the hour it plays songs you would never expect, like 76 Trombones and Somewhere Over the Rainbow.)

 The tulip gardens.  So pretty!

 I particularly loved these pinkish/purplish tulips in the entryway.

Bed

Christian was laying in bed, and Kaitlyn crawled into bed with him and immediately struck the same pose he was doing.

Easter Egg Hunt

A woman in the Primary presidency of our branch invited a few of us from the branch and some of her local friends to her house for an Easter egg hunt and a potluck lunch.  It was on a Wednesday afternoon, so it was only for our young children.  She lives in Iowa Falls, which is a a 45 minute drive from the church, so it is about a 55 minute drive from our house.  I went with Linley, the branch president's wife, and we also had another woman in the ward and her two children come with us. 

 What a sweetheart.  She spent most of the time before the hunt playing with the toy kitchen at their house.  Thankfully, we found one on Craigslist a couple of days ago - we'll be cleaning it up and that will be her birthday present from us!

 She liked looking for the eggs, which were conveniently places about every 12 inches from each other in the grass.  (There were a lot of little kids.)

She got one open and shoved a few jellybeans in her mouth.  She likes treats.  A lot.  Like mother, like daughter.

A Favorite Pastime at Our Home

Lunch

I gave Kaitlyn an Eggo and some peas for lunch (after she ate her banana), because I'm trying to help her branch out with the things she ate.  Then I was cutting some veggies, and when I turned around I saw her doing this:

Her Name!

Kaitlyn's favorite stuffed animal, Violet, sings little songs including this one that spells her name.  Right before I recorded this video, Kaitlyn said every letter (most of them before Violet said it) except for the L, and then she said, "Kaitlyn."  It was SOO cute, and we were all amazed. 

Video - Basement

The basement is technically unfinished.  But we found a store in Boone (just west of Ames) that sells carpet remnants, so we purchased a couple of large remnants, laid them down, and we have been working on making the basement a family room.  We purchased banana chairs for the kids, a recliner on clearance, a tv, and a few other things.  It is looking really nice, and it feels great down there!  I'm sure we will be spending a lot of time downstairs.

Our House

This is a picture of the front of our house.  According to everyone in the neighborhood and everyone in the branch, ours is the "green house on Christian Petersen."

This picture was taken standing on our front porch.  If you look right in between these two houses, (maybe click on the picture to blow it up bigger) you can see Slide Mountain at the school's playground.  (Slide Mountain is HUGE.  I'll take video if I remember to bring the camera to the school one day.) The school is that close to our house.  We love it here!
