The Killer Whale Report

Everybody in the class had to do a report, and mine was today. I liked it. Everybody thought theirs was the best. Funny, huh! My poster was light blue, and the food chain means that killer whales can eat everything on the food chain, and killer whales cannot be eaten so they are on the top.

Killer Whales

They are also called Orcas.

They are mammals like we are. They are the largest of all dolphins.

They can grow to be 28 feet long and weigh 12 thousand pounds. But the largest killer whale ever was 32 feet long and weighed 22 thousand pounds.

A baby orca is called a calf. When the calf is born, he weighs 400 pounds. They can live as long as 90 years!

They usually swim 3 to 4 miles an hour, but they can swim up to 45 miles per hour.

They live in every ocean in the world.

They can eat 500 pounds of food every day.

What do you think they eat? Name a couple of underwater animals.

They eat fish, squid, penguins, seals, sea lions, dolphins and walruses. They are at the top of the food chain.

Killer whales have 45 teeth and each one is about three inches long.

They have a blowhole. They have to come up to the surface of the water to breathe.

They are black and white because it helps camouflage them in the water. Animals have a hard time seeing them.

Killer whales live in pods. Pods are like families. Most pods are led by females. They travel and hunt together in their pod.

Some killer whales are famous. One was in a movie called Free Willie. You can also see them at Sea World.

My Birthday

I had a fun time! I got a double sided light saber, you can also break into pieces. It is SO cool! I got rollerblades (which I want to do right now), I also got a jump rope, and a book light. Aidan and me got a fish tank with fish! And we just bought a glow in the dark one.For my birthday breakfast I ate chocolate chip pancakes, and it was so yummy. And my birthday linner (lunch/dinner) I had artichokes, potstickers, jello, and root beer. And on my birthday dessert I had lemon cake with ice cream, and root beer floats. It was good. It really was.

I had a big party at school today. Everybody got Air Heads candy. And I got a crown, and I got to wear a cape at school. It had "SK" for "Super Kid."

I'm having a birthday party on this Saturday, May 1st.

Preschool Graduation

Yesterday we had our preschool graduation, and it was so fun. And I get to sing, and I have a graduation hat, and we also had cake. I got an award, for drawing pictures and writing letters to my family. I loved preschool, and I'm going to miss my preschool. I just really love it but I have to miss it.

Ethan's Fun Soccer Game

That soccer game was fun. I got some friends there. I had a good time. It's my first game ever. I got to be goalie once. I got to sit out once. I got to be the forward once. I also got to be a defender once. That game is really fun.

Soccer Game

It was hard to do, and I had to do a lots of work. I like playing soccer. My uniform is awesome and it also has cleats, and things to protect my body (shin guards). Last night was my first game, on my birthday. I had fun, and I liked it.

Aidan's Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday, and I had lots of fun. And we also had chocolate cake with chocolate ice cream and chocolate frosting. And then after we eated our dessert, and then me, got to open my presents. And then after that, there was a hula hoop and a bar of chocolate and there was also another bar of chocolate. And after that, then mama gave me a thing that I thought it was a treat but it was actually a book light, so I can read books with it. And then, when I woke up in the morning I saw a green thing and I thought it was a brand new shirt, and then it was not a big green shirt, it was a BIKE, a green bike!

We went to Wendy's for lunch and I got a frosty, and I also got a cheeseburger and a prize. And then I rode my brand new bike at the park.

Ethan's First Tooth

Ethan lost his very first tooth on February 20, while we were in Logan. It was very loose the night before, and in the morning, while he was eating Lucky Charms with Aidan and his cousins, he looked at me in alarm and said, "I think my tooth fell out." I made him spit out the mouthful of Lucky Charms into my hand and I found the tooth. He was so excited! The tooth fairy gave him a dollar for the first tooth. He now has a second one that is quite loose, but we told him we were under the impression that every tooth from now on would only be worth 50 cents.

Easter Eggs

We colored Easter Eggs before we went to Logan. Ethan LOVES to eat hard-boiled eggs. And, of course, we all had fun coloring them.

Time with Friends

We also got to spend time with Jeremy and Karla and their family in Layton. Jeremy is Christian's best friend. We went to Chuck-E-Cheese (the boys were SO sweet - they thought they were "only" there to have fun, and that we would just take the tickets home. When I told them we turn the tickets in for prizes, they were ecstatic. They were so excited for cheap little prizes of straws, a Tootsie Roll, a top, and stickers. When we got in the car, they both said, "Thanks, Mom, for all of the fun we just had.")
And Jeremy's family has a HUGE easter egg hunt every year, like around 500-600 eggs for 12 kids. One egg has a $20 bill in it, and tons of others have change. Both boys made around $6.00 in change. Plus candy and little toys...

Easter and Fun With Cousins

We loved being in Logan. The boys wished they had more time to spend with their cousins. It was also fun to see extended family.

Taylor and Kristi's Wedding

We went up to Logan last weekend for Taylor and Kristi's wedding. The boys participated in the wedding, and it was so much fun! We loved spending time with family.

Chester and Geocaching

A few days ago, Ethan got to bring home Chester the Cheetah from school. He was supposed to do fun activities with him, and then write about it in a special book to take back to class. Everyone in class is doing this, and by the end the book will be full with stories about all of the fun things Chester did with the kids. Ethan decided to take Chester geocaching with Aidan & Christian while I taught piano. They found the geocache and had a great time! (P.S. Ethan kindly let Aidan sleep with Chester that night. Ethan and Aidan are such good friends.)

Soccer Uniforms

(I am going to be writing a few posts today to catch up on our lives. Sometimes the boys don't want to sit at the computer with me.)

Ethan and Aidan are signed up for soccer. They both got their uniforms yesterday, and Aidan had his first practice last night (Ethan's is tomorrow). For the next month, we have soccer games on Wednesday nights (Aidan), Thursday nights (Ethan), and Saturdays (both of them). The month of April is going to be very busy and very exciting at our house, with both of their birthdays still coming up, doctor's appointments, birthday parties for them and all sorts of fun things.

Both boys wanted to sleep in their soccer uniforms last night because they are so excited for soccer to start.
